FOGELBERG SADDLE
Own a tangible piece of Pagosa Springs history and a remarkable connection to the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs.
This saddle carries a special piece of Humane Society of Pagosa Springs history. Dan Fogelberg, an accomplished equestrian and beloved singer-songwriter behind “Leader of the Band” and other hit songs recorded by The Eagles and other artists, volunteered to perform a concert for the Humane Society in the 1980s. The concert raised approximately $20,000 toward construction of the original animal shelter. The saddle was gifted by Dan’s widow to Rick and Jody Unger, who have now chosen to donate it to the Humane Society of Pagosa Springs. Adding to its significance, the saddle is also signed by J.D. Souther, Fogelberg’s close friend and riding partner. Souther was an acclaimed songwriter whose work was recorded by Linda Ronstadt, The Eagles, and other major artists.A remarkable piece of music history and Pagosa Springs history in one. Owning this saddle means owning a tangible piece of local history, and helping carry Dan Fogelberg’s legacy of compassion forward.
